I was honoured to be picked as a #SBS winner in February 2020.

Small Business Sunday (#SBS) was set up by former Dragon Theo Paphitis who used his Sunday evenings to plan for the week ahead and identify key targets for his marketing. Making use of Twitter and a growing number of followers, Theo offered to retweet the first six replies to his #SBS tweet each week.

Small Business Sunday has now grown into a huge weekly competition for small business owners to be picked by Theo to join an exclusive community of like-minded and successful business owners by submitting a tweet about their business. Of course, the chosen few are still retweeted by Theo for his vast network of Twitter followers to see.

It’s a privilege to be singled out by Theo for showing passion and determination as a marketing consultant and to receive the ongoing support and benefits that being part of the #SBS family will bring for me and my clients.

#SBS is a fantastic opportunity for small business owners to shine on Twitter

As a social media mastermind, I’ve been advising my clients to enter #SBS each week and assisting them in creating tweets that get their businesses noticed not only by Theo Paphitis himself but the many thousands of people interacting with the hashtag each Sunday.

So far, I’ve helped several clients win #SBS awards and in total, 47 social media awards have been won by my clients so far. These awards open up the door to new business contacts and opportunities that may otherwise escape your notice. Your reputation counts as a business owner and being an award winner can really make a difference in how you’re seen by your dream clients.

Are you using Twitter to its full potential for your business?

One of the reasons why I love Twitter so much for social media marketing is the opportunities that awards like #SBS can bring. Interacting with other business owners looking to be recognised for their passion and commitment not only helps you feel like part of a community of like-minds, but can also help you to connect with new people you might not come across anywhere else in your day-to-day marketing or networking activities.

I was lucky enough to attend the Small Business Sunday annual event and meet Theo himself and network with other business owners, all looking to learn from the success that the Dragon Den’s star has created. Maybe next year you could join me?
